The court in Moscow arrested the leader of the Left Front Udaltsov. He was accused of justifying terrorism for posts about "Marxist children" from Ufa

The Basmanny Court of Moscow arrested the leader of the Left Front Sergey Udaltsov in the case of justification of terrorism on the Internet, the court of the court reported by The Insider. The meeting, despite the objections of the defense and Udaltsov himself, was closed from the press and listeners.

Before the meeting, Udaltsov told reporters that the criminal case was instituted "for posts about children from Ufa, who were arrested in 2020 for the case of the terrorist community - they were from the Marxist circle." “The investigation interprets the study of Marxism as terrorism,” Udaltsov added.

He also tied his detention with the elections of the President of Russia. “Of course, this persecution is connected, in my opinion, with the presidential election. We support opponents of Vladimir Putin. I think this is one of the main reasons for my detention. Apparently, today there is no place for dissent in Russia at all, ”Udaltsov told reporters leaving the hall.

The day before, as The Insider wrote, a search was held at the politician at home, later it was interrogated and detained. Udaltsov was charged with justification of terrorism, the criminal article provides for punishment of imprisonment for a term of 5 to 7 years.

The interests of the accused are represented by lawyers Violett Volkov, Dmitry Agranovsky and Dmitry Repkin. From the defenders they took a subscription about the non -disclosure of the secrets of the preliminary investigation.

Over the past two months, Udaltsov in his Telegram channel has repeatedly stood up for those arrested in March 2023 in Ufa of the Left Front Dmitry Chuvilin and Rinat Burkeev, who were accused of creating a terrorist community. The trial of them will begin on January 30, 2024. As The Insider wrote earlier, the charges in this criminal case are built on the testimony of one witness, whom Ukraine demanded to give out the robbery of the car. Among the evidence of Marxist’s involvement in terrorism - discussions, during which the accused demanded to return the bowels to the people. The lawyer notes that the weapons, which were solemnly announced in a press release, mysteriously disappeared from the case, and there is no other material evidence of terrorism in the case. Nevertheless, members of the circle can get huge prison terms, up to life imprisonment.

Udaltsov is the founder of the socialist movement of "supporters of socialism" Left Front. " His wife is the State Duma deputy Anastasia Udaltsova.

In the summer of 2014, Udaltsov was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison for organizing riots in the Moscow Bolotnaya Square in May 2012, as well as planning similar shares in other regions of Russia. The last time Udaltsov was detained in December 2023 for holding an unauthorized action on Red Square.
