The court in Bashkortostan arrested another 9 participants in the riots in Baymak, the total number of people sent to custody grew to 17, RIA Novosti writes.

Meanwhile, new rallies began in the Bashkir cities. It was reported that the detentions are in Ufa. At about 13 hours local time, the security forces ousted almost all protesters from Salavat Yulaev. Several buses with the Rosgvardyeans came to the aid of OMON. According to preliminary data, 7 people were detained on the square. On one of the nearby streets, the security forces also detained a group of young people who threw snowballs at a police bus.

The latest protests in Bashkortostan began on January 17 after the sentencing to Eco -activist Fail Alsynov. The latter was one of the leaders of the protests of 2020, when the Bashkirs went to the defense of Mount Kushtau, which the authorities planned to give under industrial development a soda company. The current persecution is revenge for Shihan Kushtau, eco -activists say. The authorities vied with Alsynov of extremism.
