
The mayor of Tulun Yuri Karikh, arrested almost six months ago for fraud with housing payments, was deprived of the authority. This was reported by the press service of the regional prosecutor's office.
The reason was a violation of the Federal Law "On Combating Corruption". Karich provided a plot of more than 2 thousand square meters. m of a close relative did not notify the possible conflict of interests.
As Kommersant writes with reference to a source familiar with the course of the trial, as a close relative who received a land plot, was the dear son of Yuri Karikh.
The former mayor itself since the fall of 2023 has been in jail on suspicion of fraud upon resettlement of citizens after a flood in the 2019 Tulun from emergency housing. Together with him, five more defendants were charged, including the former chairman of the Municipal Property Committee of the Tulun administration.
Karikh was elected mayor of Tulun twice, both times from United Russia, in 2010 and 2014. In 2013, he was found guilty of fraud and a fine of 50 thousand rubles was assigned. Then Karikh resigned the authority, but after a while he was still successfully re -elected.
