Directors attacked Syzran and Novokuybyshevsky refinery in the Samara region

The drones attacked the Syzran and Novokuybyshevsk refinery in the Samara region, the local media reported and the regional governor Dmitry Azarov confirmed . He said that as a result of the attack there was a fire on the installation for the processing of oil products and that there were no victims.

Since 2007, the Syzran refinery has been part of the Samara group of oil refineries Rosneft. The plant processes West Siberian oil, oil of the Orenburg fields, as well as oil produced in the Samara region. The design capacity of the refineries is 8.5 million tons of oil per year.

The design capacity of the Novokuybyshevsky refineries is 8.3 million tons of oil per year.

As The Insider previously wrote , Russian refineries since the beginning of 2024 have repeatedly stopped work due to the breakdowns of equipment and external attacks. Among them are the Tuapse NPA Rosneft, the Novateka complex in Ust-Luga, the Nizhny Novgorod NPZ LUKOIL, Rosneft Ryazan NPPs. Due to such attacks in the country, fuel has risen in price .

In total, as The Insider calculated , in 2024, the attacks of Ukrainian drones affected about 37 million tons of the installed oil refining at five refineries, which corresponds to 11.3% of the total installed oil production capacity in Russia or 13.5% of oil processed in 2023.
