The former employee of the Austrian State Security Service was arrested, who followed the journalist-investigator Khrista Grozev. According to the Austrian newspaper Der Standard, Egisto Ott is suspected of selling data extracted from smartphones of three high -ranking Austrian officials who were stolen during the repair. This data then found themselves at the FSB of Russia.

According to reports, an employee of the Federal Office of the Constitution and the fight against Austria’s terrorism (Bundesamt Für Verfassungsschutz und Terrorismusbekämpfung, BVT) OTT transmitted data copied from smartphones in the summer of 2022. Information about this received a few weeks ago from the UK, where the investigation continues in the case of the operating director of the WireCard payment company Yana Marslekle.

The prosecutor's office believes that Ott used an official position to gain access to confidential information and sell it. The buyer was the former BVT official Martin Weiss, who, in turn, worked for Yana Marsealek. The prosecutor’s office said that two people were arrested, but the name of the second was not called.

The stolen smartphones belonged to Michael Klobmuller, who for many years headed the office of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Austria; Michael Takachu, who is now heading the federal police; Gernot Mayer, Director of the Federal Department of Immigration and the Provisions. In 2017, an accident occurred: during a trip on the affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a boat turned upside down with officials, their smartphones were in the water and wet. A BFV specialist was instructed to fix the devices. Apparently, he copied the data from the devices and transferred it from there. It is noted that this specialist is also under investigation.

Correspondence from the smartphone of Klobmuller later found themselves at the disposal of the press and led to an anti -corruption investigation against the official. Data from smartphones Takach and Mayer were not made public. As Der Standard notes, Ott and his accomplices, obviously, could not hack them and, perhaps, that is why they decided to transfer them to the Russian special service.
