The Russian Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Justice ask for the "top leadership of the country" to exclude the "Taliban" from the list of terrorists

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Gazeta.ru that the department, together with the Ministry of Justice, was “working out the question” about the removal of the status of a terrorist organization from the Taliban movement. However, the requests of the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Justice should still be satisfied with the "top management."

“As for the removal of the status of a terrorist organization from the movement of the Taliban, this issue is being worked out by the Russian Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Justice of Russia and other Russian specialized departments. The final decision will make the country's highest political leadership, ”the Russian Foreign Ministry said. Earlier, Kazakhstan excluded Taliban from the list of prohibited organizations.

Also on April 1, a special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Afghanistan, the director of the Second Department of Asia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Zamir Kabulov, said that the delegation of the Afghan Taliban movement was invited to participate in the Russia -Islamic World forum in Kazan. According to him, the cooperation of the Russian Federation with the leadership of the Taliban is "on an ongoing basis."

Despite the fact that in Russia the Taliban is still officially considered a terrorist organization, the Russian authorities really conduct active cooperation with it. In September 2022, for example, the Taliban concluded a preliminary agreement with Russia on the supply of gasoline, diesel fuel, gas and wheat to Afghanistan. Russia, which has lost many ways of exporting goods over the past two years, offered the Taliban administration the most favorable conditions, compared with the average world prices for raw materials.

In August 2021, Taliban militants captured the capital of Afghanistan Kabul. In the controlled territories, the Taliban introduces the norms of Sharia, the implementation of which is considered mandatory. There are television, music and musical instruments, fine art, alcohol, computers and chess, white shoes (white - the color of the Taliban flag), discussion of sex in an open form and much more. Since the Taliban came to power, the situation of women in the country has noticeably worsened. The Taliban was abolished by the Ministry of Affairs of Women. In addition, they forbade to carry women without hijabs in cars. In early January, Taliban forbade women to visit public baths in the provinces in the north of the country. Also, women were forbidden to take entrance exams to universities.

After the capture of Kabul, Taliban, the Russian ambassador to Afghanistan Dmitry Zhirnov stated that it became calmer in the capital. He called the militants "adequate men."
