A resident of Irkutsk was sentenced to imprisonment for comments on Telegram and torn down the Russian flag

A resident of Irkutsk was sentenced to 4 years in prison. The court found him guilty of rehabilitating Nazism, justifying terrorism and desecrating the Russian flag.

At the beginning of April 2024, the 2nd Eastern District Military Court issued a guilty verdict in the case against a native of Ukraine and now a resident of Irkutsk, Alexander Skvortsov.

He was charged with the rehabilitation of Nazism (clause “c” of Part 2 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code) and justification of terrorism (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code) for publishing certain comments on Telegram (their content, unfortunately, is not disclosed), as well as - desecration of the state flag (Article 329 of the Criminal Code).

According to the case materials, Skvortsov tore the state flag of the Russian Federation with the state emblem of the Russian Federation depicted on it from the wall of the Olympic reserve sports school, crumpled it and threw it into the closet in the shoe department.

The court found Skvortsov guilty and sentenced him to 4 years in prison and banned him from administering the sites for 3 years.
