The Government of the Russian Federation will allocate more than trillion rubles for additional financing for the development of the penitentiary system in Russia, including the construction of new colonies and the modernization of existing ones, Vedomosti write with reference to the draft resolution.

According to the initial plans, they planned to spend 105 billion rubles on this. The document refers to the need to build a hybrid type in 29 regions of the Russian Federation. They will combine isolated areas of different types of regimes, in addition, prison and investigative insulators. Such colonies will also appear in the occupied territories of Ukraine - in the Zaporizhzhya, Kherson, Donetsk and Lugansk regions.

It is noted that in 14 regions specific plots for construction have not yet been allocated. Although in connection with this, investment projects for the construction of the colonies were recognized as low -efficient, the search for territories for them will continue, and these objects are included in the general scheme of the location of such institutions.

In March, it became known that in the Krasnoyarsk Territory two forced labor institutions would be closed in the near future. This measure was reported to the fact that a significant part of the prisoners was sent to war.
