Roman Silantyev became best known for his involvement on the prosecution side in the case of Yevgeniya Berkovich and Svetlana Petriychuk. Since then, the general public has learned about Silantyev's science of "destructology." But his views are of wider interest, as Silantyev is an important figure in the "political wing" of the Russian Orthodox Church and is associated with the state's repressive and propaganda activities.
