Severobaykalsk: a criminal case has been opened under Article 354.1

In Buryatia, a case of rehabilitation of Nazism is being investigated against a 22-year-old supporter of the far-right ideology.

At the end of May 2024, it became known that a criminal case was opened in Severobaykalsk, Republic of Buryatia, under paragraph "b" of Part 2 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code and Part 4 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code (rehabilitation of Nazism).

The case was brought against a 22-year-old local resident who, according to law enforcement agencies, posted images, articles and comments in several far-right online communities expressing approval of the actions of Nazi Germany, and also “distributed distorted, contemptuous and negative information about memorable dates in Russia associated with the defense of the Fatherland.”

The young man lived with his parents and did not work anywhere. It is reported that he has long shared ultra-right views. He has already given a confession.

The court chose a preventive measure for him in the form of detention.
