On June 10, Vladimir Putinsigned a decree on the delivery of the State Prize of the Russian Federation in the field of science and technology for 2023. One of her laureates was a friend of the Russian president Mikhail Kovalchuk, President of the Kurchatov Institute.
It was awarded for the “cycle of fundamental and applied research, development, design and experimental and technological work, which made an outstanding contribution to the development of scientific and technical foundations, the justification and implementation of the strategy of two-component development of the nuclear energy of the Russian Federation ”. In addition to Kovalchuk, for the same merits, the supervisor of the Research and Design Institute of Energy Named after Dolley (NIKIET) Evgeny Adamov and adviser to the General Director of Rosatom Vladimir Asmolov received the same merits. Since 2020, the size of Russian state prizes is 10 million rubles.
Jacker-nuclear person Andrei Ozharovsky, in an interview with The Insider, explained that two-component nuclear energy is not a new strategy for the development of the nuclear industry, and it was introduced in the USSR:
“The word“ two -component ”in this case means the presence of two different types of nuclear reactors. The decree on the award does not write what, and why it is good (or maybe not good).
There was already two -component nuclear energy in the Soviet Union. RBMK reactors (high power reactor) were built, one of which exploded in Chernobyl, and there were reactors such as VVER (water-watering energy reactors), that is, corps reactors without graphite.
Therefore, we already had a two -component nuclear energy, and one of these components sought a lot. Yes, RBMK reactors are dangerous, now they are replaced by others. Now, it seems to me, if you translate from the slang of Rosatom, the new two -component nuclear energy involves the use of the same VVER reactors - they remain as one of the components, and BN (quick sodium) reactors of fast neutron.
BN is also bad reactors. Their main problem is that they are very expensive. Fast sodium reactors work at the Beloyarskaya nuclear power plant in the Russian Federation and give electricity, according to some reports, at times more expensive, compared even with VVER reactors, which, too, note, are not cheap at all.
And in general, there is nothing good in the nuclear energy. Neither in a single -component nor in two -component. Atomic energy is expensive and dangerous, it produces mountains of radioactive waste. ”
