NATO Secretary General: Promises of military assistance to Ukraine will be considered for the countries of the alliance as an obligation within its framework

During the press conference on the NATO summit in Washington, which will be held on July 9-11, the Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that now the promises of the supply of weapons to Ukraine, which are made by its members, will cease to be a personal file of each of the countries and will become obligations made within the framework of NATO.

He noted that this became necessary because some members of the alliance give promises that subsequently do not fulfill. Now supplies will be supervised centrally, Christopher Kavoli will be responsible for them by the Supreme Commander -in -Chief of the United NATO armed forces in Europe.

Some media mistakenly interpreted the words of Stoltenberg as an announcement that the alliance countries will oblige to make regular supplies of weapons to Ukraine. In reality, NATO Secretary General said only that they will be coordinated inside the alliance.

At the same time, on June 7, Bloomberg wrote that Stoltenberg refused attempts to establish a five-year military assistance plan for Ukraine in the amount of 100 billion euros within the alliance due to counteracting a number of its members. Now his plan includes collecting obligations from the NATO participants in the fact that they will spend 40 billion euros a year on military and non -enforcement assistance to the Ukrainian side.
