
In Kiev, an equality march was held , gathered about 500 participants. This event was the first LGBT Praise organized in the capital of Ukraine since the beginning of a full-scale Russian invasion in February 2022. Pride has been held in Ukraine since 2014.
The organizers took measures to ensure security, limiting the number of participants and without revealing in advance the place and time of the event. The action lasted about 30 minutes and passed without incident. According to the organizers, the police took excessive security measures, actually isolating the participants on one of the streets of Kyiv. At the same time, the action of the opponents of the Mark of Equality was held, but, as reported in Kyiv-Praeg, there were no real conflicts.
The event was attended by diplomats of various countries and a column of Armed Forces of Ukraine, representing LGBT+ community. The participants expressed support for equality and opposed discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. There were also calls for the liberation of Ukrainian prisoners of war and supply of arms to Ukraine, including air defense systems. The main slogan of the event has become "human rights are always important." Participants also advocated the adoption of a bill on the fight against intolerance and legalization of same -sex partnerships.
