Moscow metro passenger outraged by girls in niqabs

On June 17, 2024, a Moscow metro passenger began filming two female passengers in niqabs who had arrived from Dagestan without permission. When he approached the girls closely, they asked him why he was doing this.

The young man explained that their appearance did not correspond to "our traditional values" and his "family traditions." The girls responded that they had been wearing the hijab "all their lives" in Dagestan and were not going to take it off in Moscow, and that they did not like the fact that the young man's girlfriend was wearing shorts.

The young man insisted that it was possible to walk around with a covered face in Dagestan, but not in Moscow, and suggested approaching the metro police officers. The girls, in turn, suggested that he leave his phone number so that their brothers could contact him: “Do you understand that our brothers won’t just leave you like that, do you think there’s no one behind us? <…> We have brothers who are responsible for us.”

The conflicting parties separated, and one of the girls reported in the published video that she was very upset by the passenger’s behavior.
