On June 20, 2024, it became known that a case had been initiated under paragraph “d” of Part 2 of Art. 207.3 of the Criminal Code (public dissemination, under the guise of reliable messages, of knowingly false information containing data on the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, committed on the grounds of political, ideological, racial, national or religious hatred or enmity) against the abbot of the Moscow Zen Center Ilya Vasiliev.
The reason for initiating the case was two of his publications on Facebook.
On June 22, it became known that the Preobrazhensky Court of Moscow chose a preventive measure for Vasiliev in the form of detention for a period of two months - until August 20.
On August 1, it became known that the same court extended the arrest until September 20.
On October 1, Vasilyev was transferred to the Matrosskaya Tishina pre-trial detention center.
On October 21, it became known that the investigation into the case had been completed. Vasilyev was charged under paragraph “d” of Part 2 of Art. 207.3 CC.
