The Federation Council is confident that bans will only strengthen the influence of “enemy ideology” on people’s minds

It is useless to ban the childfree “movement,” since this will allow its adherents to “influence minds” even more actively. This was stated by Federation Council Senator Olga Epifanova. The State Duma, however, does not agree with this opinion. “Layout” talks about this in more detail.

“In a situation involving prohibitions, the clearest formulations are always required, otherwise you can, as they say, make a mess. Life shows that prohibitions are, as a rule, useless. On the contrary, they allow such movements to more actively promote their opinions and influence minds. Most importantly, we must separate our personal conviction not to have children and the propaganda that undoubtedly takes place in the Internet space, if we talk about the childfree movement,” Epifanova said. She noted that special laws are not needed to block Internet resources dedicated to childfree people.

Epifanova believes that in Russia the childfree “movement” appeared due to the lack of “reliable” fathers, and not because of women’s reluctance to have children. According to the senator, a more widespread movement in Russia is the fight against “yazhmothers,” and this is what the security forces should pay attention to.

“By the way, childfree is associated with a movement that arose several years ago on the Internet against “yazhematerov”, that is, against women raising children. Unlike Western childfree people, it is typical for our post-Soviet space,” Epifanova said.
The State Duma does not agree with Epifanova’s opinion. Thus, United Russia deputy Biysultan Khamzaev asked the Ministry of Justice to ban the childfree “movement” for spreading, as he believes, the extremist idea of deliberate childlessness. At the same time, he admits that childfree “does not exist legally,” but argues that “at the institutional level, these organizations shape public opinion and aggressively assure a person that he does not need to have children for the sake of personal freedom.” This, according to Khamzaev, contradicts traditional values and “is real extremism.”
In a conversation with Kommersant, answering the question of what to do if a couple simply does not want to have children, the deputy replied: “There is a person’s personal position, an individual opinion - no one should touch a person for this. But no one canceled the educational and explanatory parts.”
Khamzaev sent a letter to the head of the Ministry of Justice, Konstantin Chuichenko, demanding that the childfree “movement” be recognized as extremist. It is possible that the Ministry of Justice will support United Russia: as Vorstka wrote earlier, Deputy Minister of Justice Vsevolod Vukolov called the refusal to have children “an extremist ideology” and said that the Russian authorities are preparing bills to ban the spread of childfree ideas.
Let us remind you that earlier we also wrote about how the “ First Movement ” works - the “new pioneers”, which will soon appear in all schools, and also told the stories of Ukrainian children forcibly taken to Russia.
