Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, after a visit to Moscow, sent a letter to the Chairman of the European Council Charles Michel and EU leaders, in which he set out the results of his negotiations with Vladimir Putin, writes European Pravda, referring to the document available to the editorial office.

Orban claims that he did not represent the interests of the European Union in Russia, and retells Russian propaganda theses about the “conflict in Ukraine”, emphasizing “significant losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine”, which, according to Putin, are supposedly 40-50 thousand people a month. According to the Hungarian Prime Minister, the refusal of the Ukrainian side of the truce in such a situation causes the Russian president “surprise”.

Putin, as Orban says, is ready to consider a truce, provided that it does not serve as a cover for the "hidden relocation and reorganization of Ukrainian forces." The letter also mentioned the conditions stipulated in Istanbul in April 2022, and Russia's readiness to discuss the peaceful proposals of China and Brazil, in which the issues of the territorial integrity of Ukraine are not raised.

Orban emphasizes the need for peace negotiations for the "economic prosperity of Europe" and is afraid that the intensification of hostilities will lead to significant losses. He believes that in the conditions of a campaign in the United States, the EU must take over the lead in the issue of resolving the conflict.

EU diplomats intend to discuss Orban’s visit to Moscow and his “peacekeeping mission” at the next meeting of the EU permanent representatives.

Viktor Orban visited Moscow on July 5 and held negotiations with Vladimir Putin regarding the ceasefire in Ukraine. Prior to this, on July 2, the Hungarian prime minister visited Kiev, where he tried to persuade Vladimir Zelensky to stop fire and the beginning of peace negotiations with Russia.
