A Mercedes spokesman said it was a team mistake. Russell's Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton, who came in second, was declared the winner of the race. Second place went to Australian Oscar Piastri, who drives for McLaren, and third place went to Monegasque Charles Leclerc of Ferrari.
