State Duma Bans Trash Streams

State Duma deputies have adopted several laws banning trash streams in the second and third readings. This was reported on the website of the Russian parliament. Fines of up to 1 million rubles with the confiscation of equipment for broadcasting are being introduced for organizers and participants of trash streams, Vyacheslav Volodin said.

By the second reading of the document, the authors clarified the wording characterizing “trash stream”: this is information that insults human dignity and public morality, expresses obvious disrespect for society, contains images of actions with signs of illegality, including violence, and is disseminated out of hooligan, selfish or other base motives.

The fact of conducting such broadcasts will become an aggravating circumstance, as well as a qualifying feature under 10 articles of the Criminal Code, Volodin specified. The administrative fine for distributing such violent videos will be from 50 thousand to 100 thousand rubles for citizens, from 100 thousand to 200 thousand for officials, and from 800 thousand to 1 million rubles for legal entities. In addition, the confiscation of equipment used to produce such materials is provided.
