Grigory Mikhnov-Vaitenko recognized as a foreign agent

On July 19, 2024, the Russian Ministry of Justice added to the list of individuals who are foreign agents, including, among others, the priest of the Apostolic Orthodox Church Grigory Mikhnov-Vaitenko.

The reason, as the Ministry of Justice indicated, was that he distributed materials from other foreign agents and published false information about the actions of government agencies, as well as the fact that he “opposed the special military operation in Ukraine, participated as a respondent on information platforms provided by foreign agents and a foreign source.”

Let us recall that earlier, an administrative case against Mikhnov-Vaitenko was dismissed for attempting to hold a memorial service for Alexei Navalny.

This is not the first case of a religious figurebeing included among foreign agents.
