On July 10, 2024, intruders entered the territory of a synagogue in Obninsk, Kaluga Region, and set fire to an internal electrical substation. The generator booth burned down and the utility room was damaged.
In addition, the vandals broke down part of the fence and attempted to break windows and enter the synagogue building, but the attempt was unsuccessful. No one was hurt in the incident.
The Kaluga Region Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation established that the arson was committed by two children, the eldest of whom was 12 years old. Preventive talks were held with the hooligans and their parents. The motives of the minor perpetrators have not been reported.
