Igor Strelkov was not given permission to leave the colony for war

Former “Minister of Defense of the DPR” Igor Strelkov (Girkin), convicted of calls for extremism, was refused to be sent from the colony to war. His wife Miroslava Reginskaya reported this on her Telegram channel, quoting a letter that her husband sent her.

“Quite a lot of people here made me happy with messages that it was reported on the Internet that I allegedly “signed a contract” for the war. Refute this officially: report that I contacted representatives of the military registration and enlistment office visiting the penal colony, but twice received a refusal to even accept my application. Once, with the motivation “we don’t need colonels,” they didn’t even mention the article as a reason for refusal. So far, nothing has changed in this regard,” Girkin’s letter says.

Earlier, the Telegram channel Shot, which is close to the Russian security forces, reported that Igor Strelkov (Girkin) received permission to go to war. It was alleged that Strelkov’s lawyers managed to obtain the necessary permits from all relevant departments.

At the same time, his wife Reginskaya then denied information about her husband being sent to the front.

Strelkov (Girkin) is serving time in a colony in Kirovo-Chepetsk, Kirov region. He was arrested in Moscow in July 2023. In January 2024, he was sentenced to 4 years in a general regime colony under the article on calls for extremism on the Internet (Part 2 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code). The case against Strelkov was classified. He himself claimed that he was being persecuted for posts about the “Crimean issue” and the fact that Russian military personnel do not receive their due payments.

In November 2022, a court in The Hague found Strelkov involved in the destruction of a Malaysian Boeing shot down over the Donetsk region in 2014 and the death of 298 people on board. Strelkov was sentenced to life imprisonment.
