In Belarus, political prisoner Andrei Budai was charged in a new case of malicious disobedience to the colony administration

The Belarusian authorities have brought a new charge against political prisoner Andrei Budai, who is already serving a 15-year sentence in the Busly Lyatsyats case. As Viasna reports , a new criminal case has been opened under the article of malicious disobedience to the administration of the colony. The trial will begin on September 23 in Bobruisk.

According to human rights activists, at first Budai served his sentence in Colony No. 3 in Vitebsk, then he was transferred to Bobruisk Colony No. 2. It is also known that the prisoner is regularly placed in a punishment cell.

“Busly Lyatsyats” (“Storks Are Flying”) is a group of citizens that existed within the framework of the informal organization “Supratsiў” (“Resistance”), which the Belarusian authorities recognized as terrorist. In September 2022, a court in Minsk sentenced six participants in the initiative, including Budai. They received from 8.5 years to 15 years in prison.

The activists were charged with terrorism and other charges for damaging the cars of a judge and a state media employee and allegedly throwing a rock through the window of a prosecutor's office employee's apartment.
