The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation has begun to implement the law on depriving Russian citizenship of naturalized citizens who have not registered with the military, Interfax reports , citing the official representative of the department Irina Volk.

She said that the Ministry of Internal Affairs contacted the military registration and enlistment offices to obtain information about persons who had recently received Russian citizenship and who had not completed the initial military registration procedure. Volk also recalled that over 8 months of this year, 1,117 people who had recently received it were deprived of citizenship for “illegal actions.”

In turn, “Caution, News” writes that military investigators are carrying out checks in Russian regions to identify naturalized citizens who have not registered with the military registration and enlistment office. This, in particular, was reported to the RF Investigative Committee for the Barnaul garrison, representatives of the Gadzhievsky garrison in the Murmansk region, to the RF Investigative Committee for the Budennovsky garrison in the Stavropol region, a similar raid took place in Yekaterinburg.

The law on military service for those receiving Russian citizenship was signed by Vladimir Putin on August 8. It involves deprivation of citizenship if a naturalized person does not register with the military.
