“I have already interviewed about 20 people, I found one Muscovite, 37 years old, with one child, who has no direction,” shared one of the Moscow residents, who gave birth to a child six months ago. She also received a referral for testing.
Anti-Mullerian hormone is one of the main indicators used to assess fertility. The AMH level is determined by the number of follicles at a certain stage of growth; its low values indicate a decrease in ovarian reserve (insufficient number of follicles in the ovaries).
The Moscow Health Department did not comment on this in any way. But in July, the SRZP faction submitted to the State Duma a bill on the dependence of the amount of maternity capital on the “fertility rate” V regions. Deputies believe that more money should be paid to mothers in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, where the birth rate is lower, and less where it is high (primarily in the national republics and, in particular, in Chechnya).
This spring, the Ministry of Health sent methodological recommendations to the regions on how to conduct medical examinations to assess the reproductive health of the population. It was proposed to divide women and men aged 18–49 into three groups, depending on the presence of chronic diseases or risk factors for their development. The recommendations also indicated a course of action for patients who have identified problems. Patients who were found to have risk factors for developing diseases were planned to be referred to specialized medical specialists or to a doctor for medical prevention. Patients with gynecological diseases were supposed to be treated according to an individual program as part of dispensary observation by an obstetrician-gynecologist.
The methodological recommendations for medical examination of women specified the rules for individual counseling “on issues of reproductive health, reproductive attitudes and motivation to have children.” In particular, women should have been informed that the optimal time for pregnancy and childbirth is between 18 and 35 years of age.
In the case of men, it was proposed to measure height, weight, abdominal circumference, give a general assessment of physique, conduct an examination of the genitals, and, if pathologies were detected, take a spermogram. By the end of this year, the authorities expected to cover about 6 million Russians with this procedure, Ilya Balanin, chairman of the Federal Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund, said earlier.
