The Parliament of Georgia adopted in final reading a bill banning “LGBT propaganda”

The Parliament of Georgia has adopted in its final reading a bill banning “LGBT propaganda.” 84 deputies voted unanimously for the project. Opposition parties did not participate in the voting. The bill will come into force after being signed by the President of Georgia.

According to the draft law, same-sex marriage, medical procedures for gender reassignment, adoption of children by non-heterosexual people, propaganda and popularization of LGBT people in educational institutions and the media, and demonstrations aimed at popularizing LGBT people are prohibited.

“An initiative like the draft law “On the Protection of Family Values ​​and Minors,” which so comprehensively reflects the order and interests of our society, is rare,” the media quotes Rati Ionatamishvili, a deputy from the ruling Georgian Dream party.
