An employee of one of the Defense Ministry institutions in St. Petersburg complained to the minister about pagan call signs

On September 24, 2024, it became known about a letter from a former employee of the 985th Center for State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance of the Ministry of Defense to the head of this ministry, Andrei Belousov. The author of the letter complained about the use of names of pagan gods and characters from ancient Slavic mythology for call signs.

The Center's management decided to introduce walkie-talkies and call signs for officers and duty officers. The names of ancient Slavic pagan gods began to be used as call signs. This outraged one of the employees, who refused to use call signs that were blasphemous, in his opinion, and simply did not answer calls.

“For me, as a believer, a church-going Orthodox Christian, the blatant disregard for religious feelings and forced participation in blasphemous, offensive actions turned out to be unacceptable and became the basis for my dismissal,” the letter says. Its author asks the minister to look into the use of call signs unacceptable for Christians.
