A court in Moscow fined Discord and Google 3.5 million rubles

The Tagansky District Court of Moscow fined the Discord service 3.5 million rubles for violating the law on self-control (Part 2 of Article 13.50 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation). The press service does not specify what exactly the messenger was accused of. The same court fined Google the same amount under Article 13.41 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. In August, the court already fined Google 3.5 million rubles for refusing to restrict access to content containing information about drinking alcohol and smoking.

Earlier, Kommersant reported that Discord faces complete blocking in Russia. Since September 20, Roskomnadzor has sent five new decisions regarding the operation of the messenger in the country. According to the newspaper's source, the messenger may be officially blocked or slowed down "in the coming days."

On September 26, users began to complain en masse about the slowdown of Discord. More than 11 thousand users reported problems with access, network failures reached 83.8%. When trying to log into their account, users saw an update screen. However, with VPN enabled, the messenger worked stably.

As the propaganda Telegram channel “Military Informant” noted, the Russian army often uses the Discord platform to organize combat control in the war in Ukraine.
