Alexey Moskalev from the Tula region, who was sentenced to a year and ten months in prison for an anti-war drawing of his daughter Masha, was released from prison. His lawyer Vladimir Bilienko told OVD-Info about this. His daughter met him near IK-6 in Novomoskovsk.
After Masha drew an anti-war drawing in an art class in 2022, her father came to the attention of the security forces. After the girl was brought to the police station several times, a criminal case was opened against Moskalev because of his post on Odnoklassniki. He was placed under house arrest in March 2023, and his daughter was taken to a rehabilitation center. She was subsequently handed over to her mother, with whom she had not previously lived or communicated for seven years. Officials demanded that the juvenile affairs commission deprive the father of parental rights, but this claim was rejected .
On March 28, Moskalev was sentenced to two years in prison without his presence in the courtroom. He tried to escape from house arrest through Belarus, but was beaten by local security forces and detained . Subsequently, the appeal court made a decision to reduce the period by two months, approved in cassation in 2024. In the colony, Moskalev was sent to pre-trial detention center six times due to disciplinary sanctions, the reason for which was, for example, the fact that he was sitting at the table with his elbow on his hand.
