The second round of the presidential elections in Moldova was declared valid, since the required minimum turnout threshold of 20% was passed. According to the CEC, at the time of writing the news, over 641 thousand citizens voted, that is, more than 22.76%.
More than 2.2 thousand polling stations have been opened on the territory of Moldova, as well as 231 polling stations abroad. Voting will end at 21:00 local time (22:00 Moscow time).
In the second round of the presidential election, the current head of state, Maia Sandu, and the country's former prosecutor general, Alexander Stoianoglo, are participating.
The first round of elections took place on October 20. At the same time, in one round, a referendum on the republic’s accession to the European Union was held. According to its results, 50.35% of citizens were in favor of European integration, and 49.65% were against it. On October 31, the country's Constitutional Court approved the results of the referendum.
