Omsk: three “USSR citizens” convicted

In Omsk, a verdict was pronounced in the case against three “citizens of the USSR” found guilty of participating in a banned organization.

On December 23, 2024, the Pervomaisky District Court of Omsk rendered a verdict in the case under Part 1 of Art. 282.2 (organizing the activities of a prohibited organization) and Part 2 of Art. Art. 282.2 (participation in the activities of a prohibited organization)

In the dock were two local residents and a man, who, according to law enforcement agencies, were members of a banned cell of “citizens of the USSR” (banned under the name “Union of Slavic Forces of Russia” (“USSR”) and recognized by the court as extremist).

According to the investigation, they attracted people to this organization and distributed campaign materials and videos on the Internet.

The court found all three guilty and sentenced two defendants to 1 year and 2 months in a general regime colony, and the third defendant to 9 months of forced labor with 15% of the salary withheld to the state. In addition, all convicts are also deprived of the right to lead and participate in public associations for periods of 2 to 3 years.

Let us remind you that this organization of “citizens of the USSR” was created by dentist Sergei Taraskin in 2010. The ideology of the movement is based on the belief that the Soviet Union never collapsed, therefore the current government in Russia should be recognized as illegitimate (for more information about the “Union of Slavic Forces of Russia” see here ). In July 2019, the Supreme Court of the Komi Republic recognized the Union of Slavic Forces of Rus' (USSR) as an extremist organization.
