Peter Morocco, who is in the White House for the defeat of USAID, held secret meetings with Christian nationalists in Europe - propulica

Peter Morocco, director of the US State Department of the State Department, under the last administration of Trump in 2018, secretly met with Bosniy Serbian separatists under US sanctions. This became known from the investigation of Propublica, based on an interview with seven active and former American officials.

Among the participants in the meeting was Milorad Dodik - the leader of the Republic of Serbian as part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who was under sanctions for active opposition to the US efforts in the region. Later, at a meeting with Putin, Dodik called himself a “pro -Russian, anti -Western and anti -American” politician.

Morin Kormak, who at that time was the US Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, became known about the meeting. At the end of the Morocco visit, she made him a sharp reprimand for a meeting with Dodik.

After leaving the State Department, Morocco received a high post in the US Agency for International Development (USAID), where he tried to detain or stop dozens of programs, including those that were supposed to benefit the united government of Bosnia and Herzegovina. According to former colleagues, his agenda was frankly militaristic and Christian-nationalist.

In January 2025, immediately after Trump's inauguration, Morocco prepared an order to close all USAID programs and freezing foreign assistance. He headed efforts to send almost all the agency’s employees on administrative leave, although the courts froze many of these decisions.

Former Morocco colleagues are especially alarmed by his statements during private talk about US foreign policy. According to them, he questioned the need to finance the USAID programs to combat nationalism based on racial hatred abroad, and also preferred programs that benefited Christian minorities.
