The court in Moscow arrested the accounts of Ilya Varlamov

The Meshchansky District Court of Moscow arrested funds on the accounts of the famous blogger Ilya Varlamov. This was reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the courts of general jurisdiction of Moscow.

The arrest of funds initiated the investigation, but the exact amounts and details of the investigator are not disclosed. Also, the press service of the court did not provide information on the motivation of this decision. According to TASS, the arrest of funds is securing and involves protecting the interests of the investigation.

In November 2024, the Moscow prosecutor’s office opened a criminal case against Varlamov, accusing him of evading the duties of a “foreign agent” (part 2 of Article 330.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Earlier, the blogger has already encountered administrative liability for violation of the procedure for the “foreign agent” (part 4 of Article 19.34 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) due to the refusal to publish information about his status on social networks.

After the beginning of the full -scale invasion of Russian troops in Ukraine in 2022, Ilya Varlamov left Russia. In March 2023, the Ministry of Justice of Russia declared him a “foreign agent”.
