Macron presented a European plan for the settlement of war in Ukraine: a partial ceasefire and the introduction of peacekeepers

French President Emmanuel Macron revealed a plan for the settlement of war in Ukraine, prepared by France and Great Britain. He told about this in an interview with Le Figaro.

The plan proposed by France and Great Britain involves a partial ceasefire for a month. A truce will apply to air and sea attacks, as well as to attacks on energy infrastructure. It will not apply to ground -based hostilities: according to Macron, to check whether the ceasefire is respected along the front, "it will be very difficult."

The next part of the plan is the input of the European peacekeeping contingent to Ukraine. This will happen only at a later stage.

“In the coming weeks of European troops in Ukraine, there will be no. The question is how we use the time [ceasefire] to try to achieve a truce, negotiations that will take several weeks, and then, when the world is signed, the deployment of [troops], ”said Macron.

In an interview with Le Figaro, Macron also urged European countries to increase defense costs: “Russians spend 10% of their GDP defense. We must prepare and set the target indicator of about 3-3.5% of GDP. This is far from those 2%that France has hardly achieved and from which many European states are far from. ”

Vladimir Zelensky, answering the question of journalists about whether he knows about the peaceful plane proposed by France and Great Britain, replied that he was "aware of everything."

Last weekend, the President of Ukraine met with the Prime Minister of Great Britain Kirram Senermer and King Charles III. Starmer assured that London will support Kyiv "as much as it takes." He also promised Ukraine British export financing in the amount of 1.6 billion pounds (approximately 1.9 billion euros) for the acquisition of more than 5 thousand air defense missiles.
