The US Department of Finance banned the activities of the Chevron oil company in Venezuela by order of Trump

The US Department of Finance gave Chevron up to 3 April to turn its activities in Venezuela, according to President Donald Trump, Bloomberg reports . This decision cancels the permission of the Biden administration, which allowed the American oil giant to supply Venezuelan oil to the oil refineries of the coast of the Gulf of Mexico.

Trump wrote on social networks: “We cancel the concessions that the dishonest Joe Biden provided Nicholas Maduro from Venezuela under an agreement on oil transactions.” The Secretary of State Marco Rubio added that he would provide “recommendations on foreign policy” for “canceling all licenses for oil and gas of the Biden era, which shamefully financed the illegitimate regime of Maduro”.

Venezuela has already stated that the US decision will be “harmful” and will cause “the damage to the United States, their people and companies.” Trump also criticized Maduro for insufficiently frequent deportation flights for illegal migrants sent from the United States.

Combined Chevron with the Venezuela State Oil Company in recent years increased production to about 20% of the total oil produced in the country. This cooperation ensured a significant economic rise, helped to curb high inflation and brought the currency to the private sector of Venezuela. However, critics, especially republican lawmakers from Florida, claimed that the American company provided economic support to the repressive regime of Maduro.

In early February, six Americans detained in Venezuela went home with the specialized US President Richard Grenell after his meeting with Venezuela President Nicholas Maduro.
