President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the commitment to his country by the peaceful settlement of the conflict. In his statement in X (Twitter), he emphasized that Ukraine is ready to start negotiations as soon as possible to achieve a durable world, noting that no one wishes the world more than Ukrainians.
Zelensky expressed his readiness to work under the “strong leadership of President Trump” to achieve a strong world. According to him, the first steps could be the liberation of prisoners and a truce in airspace - a ban on the use of missiles, long -range drones and bombs on energy and other civilian infrastructure - as well as an immediate truce at sea if Russia takes similar actions.
The Ukrainian leader also mentioned a failed Friday meeting in Washington, in the White House, expressing regret about what happened:
“It's time to fix everything. We would like the future cooperation and communication to be constructive. ”
Regarding an agreement on minerals and security, the President of Ukraine confirmed the willingness to sign it at any time and in any convenient format. Zelensky considers this agreement as a “step” to solid security guarantees, expressing hope for its effective functioning. It is worth recalling that the draft agreement, which was supposed to be signed in Washington, left open the question of security guarantees by the United States.
In his statement, Zelensky also noted the value of US assistance in maintaining the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, especially mentioning the moment, “changing everything” when Trump, during his first presidential term, provided Ukraine with the Javelin PTR.
On the fifth day after the skirmish in the oval office, its participants softened the rhetoric. Earlier on March 4, the presidents of the United States and Ukraine, as well as the US Vice President Jay Di Wence, did not exclude the possibility of new negotiations and further interaction, including signing the agreement on the economic cooperation of Washington and Kyiv, as well as a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia. Prior to this, Trump ordered to suspend the supply of military assistance to Ukraine.
