Russians began to change more often

The All -Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VTsIOM) presented the results of a survey about the attitude of Russians towards treason.

Compared to previous years, treason, according to respondents, began to meet more often: if in 2007 55% of respondents spoke about this, then in 2025 - already 74%. At the same time, the number of those who consider marital infidelity to a rare phenomenon or did not encounter her in their environment, on the contrary, decreased 2.5 times (from 32% in 2023 to 13% in 2025).

Who changes more?

Almost half of the respondents said that they are familiar with women who are in connection with married men. A third - knows men who are in relations with married women. Almost every second Russian faced treason, 37% were cheated themselves. At the same time, women almost twice more often say that they cheated on them.

Why do people cheat?

Most often, betrayals are associated with problems in relations: sexual and emotional dissatisfaction, worsening communication and distance between partners. Separately, respondents distinguish treason “in response” - out of revenge, resentment or attempts to restore justice. More often, men and those who were in several marriages are said about this. Among them, both the share of own betrayal and the experience of betrayal by the partner.

"Digital jealousy"

Every fourth Russian admitted that he watched a partner through social networks - viewed correspondence, likes, comments and history. Moreover, among women there were more of these (30% against 21% in men), and among the Zumers - almost every second.

Know or not know?

The Russians were divided almost equally: 40% would like to know about treason, 42% would prefer not to know. Men often want to know the truth (46%), and women - remain in ignorance (47%). With age, the desire not to know about treason is only growing: among the zomers, only 5% would prefer to close their eyes, while in a generation of 57+ there are already 59%.
