The United States submitted to Kyiv a new draft agreement on fossils: they want control over the Gazprom pipeline and income from Ukrainian production

A new meeting of Ukrainian and American representatives took place about an agreement on minerals, writers writes with reference to a source familiar with the situation. According to the source, the chances of a breakthrough in the negotiations were minimal "because of the hostile atmosphere." The tension is caused by the new edition of the draft agreement prepared by the Trump administration, which gives the United States even more advantages than the previous project that caused a scandal.

The new version of the agreement also involves the provision of the United States privileged access to Ukrainian mineral deposits. It also requires that the entire income from resource mining Ukrainian state and private companies enters the joint investment fund.

The source said that the document contains an “Easter man” - the requirement that the international financial corporation of the US development gains control over the Gazprom pipeline, which passes through Ukraine to Europe.

The project still does not provide for the provision of security guarantees to Ukraine - a key condition that President Vladimir Zelensky has repeatedly spoke about. Earlier, he stated that the mineral agreement should be beneficial for both countries and can be structured in such a way as to contribute to the modernization of Ukraine.

It is expected that after two weeks, high-ranking Ukrainian officials will arrive in Washington, including Prime Minister Denis Shmygal and Minister of Finance Sergei Marchenko, to participate in the meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
