The Hungarian parliament voted by a majority vote for amendments to the Constitution, which prohibit LGBT Prais and recognize only two sexes: male and female. This is written by Euronews .
The adopted document ensures the ban on the annual LGBT parade in Budapest. Previously, it was a ban on a separate law. The ruling Party "Fides" claimed that LGBT parades are harmful to children and the protection of minors are more priority for freedom of assembly.
Amendments also record the recognition of only two sexes - male and female. As the Hungarian edition of Index writes , the Constitution will be supplemented with the following provisions:
“The sex of a person at birth is a biological characteristic that can be both male and female”
And
“Protection of the physical, mental and moral development of children, as well as their rights to self -identification in accordance with the floor at birth, is the fundamental right that is of paramount importance compared to other fundamental rights guaranteed by the basic law, with the exception of the right to life”
The changes supported 140 parliamentarians, 21 spoke out against. During the vote, a banner was stretched in the hall with the inscription “You can forbid us, but you cannot forbid the truth” (quote for Reuters ).
