In the Kemerovo region, the number of teenage pregnancies has grown by almost a third, NGS42 reports . As Valentina Bogatenko, an authorized person on the rights of a child in the region, told the publication, 515 girls under the age of 18 became pregnant last year, including four - under 15 years old.
In the previous few years, the number of teenage pregnancies gradually decreased. So, in 2023, 388 teenage pregnancies were recorded compared to the 605th in 2021. The growth of this indicator occurred for the first time in four years, NGS42 notes.
Bogatenko said that the authorities are conducting measures to prevent teenage pregnancies. In particular, the Kuzbass Center for Public Health disseminates information on how to avoid unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases; On the basis of the Kuzbass Regional Children's Clinical Hospital, classes are held in "Schools of Reproductive Health".
Meanwhile, at the end of March, the Kuzbass authorities introduced a one -time pregnancy payment in the amount of 100 thousand rubles for full -time students. Payment is also due to minor schoolgirls. The decree of the regional government said that if the pregnant woman is not 18 years old, then its legal representative may apply for payment.
In December, the head of the Kemerovo region, Ilya Meredyuk, said that the region will receive 500 million rubles to improve the demographic situation. According to him, the birth rate (that is, the average number of children born to a woman) in Kuzbass is 1.22, so the region was included in the program to support families with children and improve the level of demography. The total birth rate in Russia for 2024, according to preliminary data, amounted to 1.4.
Pregnancy payments for students of girls, including minors, were previously introduced in the Oryol, Bryansk regions and other regions of Russia. Thus, the authorities are trying to increase the birth rate.
