Russian schools will again introduce mandatory assessments for behavior

The Ministry of Education of Russia is developing a bill on the return of assessments for behavior in schools - practice that existed in Soviet times. This was stated by the head of the department Sergey Kravtsov at an expanded meeting of the working group of the Council of Human Rights under the President of the Russian Federation. He confirmed that “we support the assessment for behavior and the bill will be,” TASS reports .

The initiative was originally nominated by the head of the HRC by Valery Fadeev in the summer of 2024. According to his proposal, students with unsatisfactory behavior will not be allowed before the final certification by decision of the pedagogical council of the school. According to Fadeev, this will also help protect the dignity of teachers, since there will be a mechanism for deducting problem students.

In December, President Vladimir Putin supported the idea of ​​discussing this issue with experts and the parent community, noting that "the assessment for behavior should be equivalent to other assessments." As Kravtsov reported in March, the mechanism can be implemented experimentally in several regions from September 1, 2025.

In January, Kravtsov talked about the conduct of "educational work" with the consciousness of schoolchildren in the annexed territories of Ukraine. According to him, there is a plan and a schedule for the integration of “new regions”, where priority areas are working with high school students, “whose consciousness distorted the Kiev regime,” cooperation with teachers and the development of infrastructure. Kravtsov assured Putin in the “maximum integration” of Ukrainian schoolchildren into the Russian educational system.
