Journalists found real estate in the elite district of Ulan-Ude from the chief military prosecutor of the Russian Federation Valery Petrova

The publication "People of Baikal" found that the family of the main military prosecutor of Russia Valery Petrov owns real estate in a closed village in Verkhnyaya Berezovka-the elite district of Ulan-Ude. According to journalists, the site and house on Milanskaya Street are registered for the wife of the prosecutor Irina Petrov. According to the extract from Rosreestr, it also belongs to the street itself.

Cottage with an area of ​​244 square meters. m with the garage was built in 2013, when Valery Petrov held the position of prosecutor of Buryatia, and Irina Petrova worked as deputy minister of culture of the republic. The family received a land plot with an area of ​​35 acres at the same time.

The village where the house is located for a long time remained without connecting to the water supply. However, in December 2024, water supply was held there as part of the federal program “Clean Water”. The length of the highway was 9 km, the cost was 253 million rubles. The line ends at Milanskaya Street. At the same time, the rest of the upper birch and 40% of the inhabitants of Buryatia are left without centralized water supply.

The neighbors of the Petrov family were the Deputy Prime Minister of Buryatia Igor Zuraev and relatives of businessman Sergei Rogov, who died in a plane crash in 2018.

Valery Petrov is from the Nukutsky district of the Irkutsk region. After graduating from the law faculty of Irkutsk State University, he worked in the prosecutor's office of Buryatia. His wife is Irina Badieva, the daughter of the former secretary of the Buryat regional committee of the CPSU and the deputy chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the RSFSR Alexander Badiev.

From 1998 to 2006, Petrov was deputy prosecutor of Buryatia, and then headed the regional prosecutor. His predecessor Pyotr Ermakov left his position less than a month after his appointment - after the conflict with the use of a knife. The appointment of Petrov was accompanied by criticism, but his former leader Ivan Semchishin publicly denied the accusations against him.

In 2010, the building of the Yubileiny shopping center with the participation of riot police was captured in Ulan-Ude. According to the newspaper "Century", the building was transferred to the control of businessman Vladimir Dmitriev, related to Petrov. Both come from the same area, their fathers worked together in party bodies. Dmitriev also paid for the publication of the book of Father Petrov, in which he and the relatives of the prosecutor were mentioned.

Later, Dmitriev gained control of the Ulan-Ude ship plant, which in 2007 built a yacht by order of Irkutskenergo, but soon found himself in debt. In 2014, the enterprise was recognized as bankrupt, a shopping complex was built in its place.

The newspaper "Century" called Petrova a business prosecutor, but evidence of corruption with Dmitriev was not presented.

In 2017, Petrov was appointed chief military prosecutor of Russia. According to Novaya Gazeta, this purpose was made possible thanks to the support of Yuri Chaika. Petrov’s conflict with the head of Buryatia Alexei Tsydenov was also mentioned: the prosecutor, according to the publication, tried to promote persons loyal to him to the republican authorities.

After moving to Moscow, Irina Petrova got a job at JSC RT Construction Technologies-a subsidiary of Rostec. For 3.5 years of work, she received 36.7 million rubles, which significantly exceeds its previous income: in 2016, she declared 1.2 million rubles. Journalists sent requests to Rostec, the military prosecutor’s office and Petrova herself, but did not receive answers.

The military prosecutor’s office, which is headed by Petrov, is obliged to supervise the activities of Rostec and his subsidiaries. However, there are no references to checks on their relations on the department’s website. The last criminal case in this area is dated 2017.

The administrator of the Sovereign Eye, Ivan Belov, in the commentary, said that the employment of the prosecutor’s wife in a controlled structure can be regarded as a conflict of interests or even as receiving a large bribe. According to him, without political will, an investigation of such a situation is impossible.

The income of Petrov himself, according to declarations, amounted to about 4 million rubles a year as a prosecutor of Buryatia and up to 9 million - after appointing to the military prosecutor's office.

The military prosecutor's office also oversees the protection of mobilized rights. In Buryatia, mobilization on September 22, 2022 was emergency, the most tough and violations. According to the estimates of the "people of Lake Baikal", at least 2649 people died in the republic in war.
