Russia demonstrates all the most readiness for risk in the fight against Western countries, which is manifested in "more severe, aggressive or provocative actions." This is stated in the annual report of military intelligence and the Netherlands Security Service (MIVD). The authors of the report write that the Netherlands were in the gray zone between the world and the war.

The hybrid attacks of Russia are aimed primarily at organizations that support Ukraine in one way or another, as well as the military and logistics objects in Europe, the report says. At the same time, the Netherlands are interested in Russia because of the support of Ukraine and because organizations such as the International Criminal Court and large technological companies are located in the country.

“Our country is increasingly faced with state entities who are trying to destroy and weaken our society with the help of hybrid attacks,” said Peter Reisink, director of MIVD. In his opinion, even if the war in Ukraine is over, the threat emanating from Russia will continue to grow, so the Netherlands and other states - members of the European Union should increase military potential as quickly as possible. “This is necessary to contain Russia, and in the worst case, to protect the Netherlands and Europe from an attack by Russia,” Reisink emphasized.

According to MIVD, last year Russian hackers carried out several cyber attacks on the Netherlands. The computer system of an unnamed state institution and objects of critical infrastructure were attacked. It is emphasized that the hackers failed to gain access to the network.
