The US naval forces lost the F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter in the Red Sea during the maneuvers of the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier. As stated in the Navy’s message, published on April 28, during the towing of the aircraft in the hangar, the crew lost control, and the fighter along with the tractor fell overboard. All members of the team were found, one sailor received a slight wound.
CNN transfers with reference to the representative of the US authorities, which, according to reports from the scene, the incident occurred at the moment when the aircraft carrier made the Husit missile strike. Another official confirmed that the fighter sank. According to the Navy, one F/A-18 Super Hornet costs $ 60 million.
The former US Navy captain Karl Shuster told CNN that the aircraft carriers, trying to avoid a missile attack, use Zigzag tactics, that is, they make a series of sharp turns at 30–40 degrees. The video published in 2019 shows how similar maneuvers are made by the aircraft carrier by USS Gereld R. Ford.
