US President Donald Trump decided not to wait for Boeing to complete the new Air Force One, and bought a used aircraft-Boeing 747-8, previously owned by the ruling Katar Amiri Flight family. It is reported by The Wall Street Journal.
According to the publication, Trump is dissatisfied with how long the construction of a new side has been going on, and considers the current presidential liner too slow. Therefore, he instructed to re-equip the Qatari plane-he is 13 years old, inside there is already a conference hall, a lounge zone, a bedroom and a bathroom with gilded cranes.
The president asked to change only the interior: the new plane will be decorated in light blue colors-in a style resembling Air Force One from John Kennedy.
The cost of a used airliner is estimated at 75-100 million dollars. Another 25 million will be required from the US budget for internal re -equipment and refinement. It is expected that the plane will be at the disposal of the President in the fall of 2025.
