In the negotiations with Russia in Istanbul Ukraine will be presented by President Vladimir Zelensky, and the Minister of Defense Rustem Umarov, the head of the president’s office, Andrei Ermak, diplomatic adviser Igor Zhovkva and Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Sibiga, also plan to take part in the trip. This was reported by the Ukrainian edition of Radio NV with reference to its sources close to the President of Ukraine.

According to them, the final decision on what format negotiations will take place and whether they will take place at all, Zelensky will accept already in Turkey, on the eve of the meeting. According to the interlocutor of the publication, Vladimir Zelensky nevertheless counts on the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin. US President Donald Trump considered the opportunity to attend this meeting, but then said that the US delegation at negotiations in Istanbul would be headed by Rubio Secretary of State.

The proposal to resume negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in Turkey received from Vladimir Putin on the night of May 11. Donald Trump wrote on his social network that "Ukraine must agree to this immediately." President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced his intention to come personally, moreover, he offered direct negotiations with Putin. The Kremlin ignored Zelensky’s proposal, no comments about whether Putin would be in Istanbul. Washington Post, citing the “former Kremlin official”, wrote that the Russian delegation will include the Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Putin’s assistant Yuri Ushakov.
