Latvia banned the entry of some Russian citizens who own real estate near strategic objects

The Latvian authorities banned the entrance to the country to some Russian citizens who own real estate in Latvia near objects of strategic importance. According to Delfi, this was told in the program TV3 "Nekā personīga".

The State Security Service (CGB) reported that in recent years she conducted a number of inspections against Russian property owners near strategic objects and, in some cases, saw the threat of national security. On the recommendation of the SGB "Suspicious" Russians were blacklisted.

At the end of March, the Latvian Sejm examined the bill on the restriction of transactions threatening national security in the second reading. The document provides for a complete ban on the purchase of real estate for citizens of Russia and Belarus, as well as for companies in which citizens of these countries own at least a 25 percent share. Most of the deputies of the Latvian parliament supported the bill, he will have to go through the third reading.

The TV3 program was performed by the Chairman of the Committee for Supervision of the Intelligence of the Parliament of Finland, Mats Levstroy, who said that the Finnish authorities are closely monitoring the transactions to buy land and buildings near the military and other critical infrastructure. In April, the Finnish parliament banned the citizens of countries “fanning aggressive war and threatening Finland’s security”, without a permanent residence permit or Finnish citizenship to buy any real estate in Finland. So far, the ban applies only to Russians.
