"They require surrender." Ukraine will not continue negotiations with Russia without a subject conversation about the ceasefire - the head of the Foreign Ministry

Russia requires Ukraine to surrender in peace negotiations, said the Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andrei Sibiga.

“We need such negotiations on which decisions are made on which issues are resolved. Now we see that the last round of the meetings that took place in Istanbul was actually reduced to discussing the exchange. Therefore, we are interested in the meeting at the presidents. And we are ready for such a meeting. And then we will watch. For us, the most important thing is that we bring the world closer. For us, the key is now the achievement of a truce, a ceasefire. <...>

We were ready to discuss substantive topics in order to approach peace for Ukraine. It was our signal. Unfortunately, we saw the complete inadequacy of the Russian side, which manifested itself in the document that they handed over. This is complete inadequacy. They did not change the rhetoric of ultimatums. They require surrender from us. ”

The second round of negotiations between the Russian and Ukrainian parties was held on June 2 in Istanbul. The Russian delegation was headed by the assistant to the president Vladimir Medinsky, Ukrainian - Minister of Defense Rustem Umarov. The parties exchanged a memorandum. Ukraine transferred its document in advance: the requirement of a complete and unconditional ceasefire, the return of deported children, the exchange of prisoners of war and hostages on the principle of “all for all”, international warranty mechanisms, and the restoration of territorial integrity since 2014.

The memorandum of the Russian Federation implies the international recognition of Crimea, “LPR”, “DPR”, Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions in Russia, the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops, neutrality of Ukraine and a ban on the reception and placement of nuclear weapons on its territory. For the ceasefire, the supply of Western weapons to Ukraine is excluded, this also applies to the provision of intelligence.
