Israel’s blow to Iran: the elimination of nuclear scientists and high-ranking military

On the night of June 13, Israel began an air operation against Iran called "people like a lion." The operation has become the largest Israeli blow to Iran over the past decades. According to The Times of Israel, its goals were the destruction of the infrastructure related to the nuclear program, and the elimination of the military and scientific leadership that participated in its development.

According to the Israeli army, about 200 aircraft participated in the operation. It was struck by more than 100 objects, including nuclear centers in Natanze, Hondob and Horramabada, GRC bases, headquarters and residential buildings of high -ranking representatives of the regime. According to preliminary data from the IAEA, radiation leaks at nuclear facilities are not recorded.

As a result of the blow, high -ranking military and specialists were eliminated, playing a key role in the implementation of Iran’s nuclear projects. The Iranian State Media, including Tasnim and IRNA agencies, confirmed that the following persons were liquidated:

• Hossein Salam , commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Corps (Ksir);
• Mohammad Bagheri , chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Iran;
• Goals Ali Rashid , one of the senior generals KSIR, commander of the headquarters of the Hatam Al-Anbiya;
• Feriadun Abbasi-Davani , former head of the Iranian atomic energy organization;
• Mohammad Mehdi Technici , President of the Islamic University of Azad and one of the key persons in the development of the nuclear theoretical base of Iran.

In total, the Iranian media reports the death of 6 nuclear physicists-thus, in addition to Davan and Technoci, four more scientists who participated in the Iranian nuclear program were liquidated.

In response to the attack, Iran launched more than a hundred drones towards Israel. According to the IDF, almost all of them were intercepted by air defense systems. The Supreme Leader of Iran Ali Khamenei promised Israel the “bitter and painful reckoning” (IRIB).

In Israel, a state of emergency was introduced, mass events were canceled, schools and enterprises were closed, with the exception of critical infrastructure facilities. The army warns of possible new attacks from the Iranian side.

The situation continues to develop. The Israeli authorities say they are ready to continue the operation until the nuclear threat is completely eliminated. At the same time, international organizations and large powers call for restraint, fearing further escalation in the region.
