Off the coast of Libya, an explosion occurred on board the tanker Vilamoura , which was carrying about 1 million barrels of oil previously loaded in Russian ports. This was reported by Bloomberg and Reuters. The incident occurred on June 27, but it became known only today.

According to the Greek company TMS Tankers, which owns the ship, the engine room was flooded as a result of the explosion. The reasons have not yet been established. There were no injuries, and no oil spill was recorded. The tanker is being towed to Greece, where the damage will be assessed.

The tanker Vilamoura called at the Russian port of Ust-Luga

The Vilamoura vessel called at the port of Ust-Luga in April, where it was loaded with Kazakh oil, and in May at the terminal of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium near Novorossiysk. The explosion occurred on the way from the Libyan port of Zeytin to Gibraltar.

Since the beginning of the year, according to Vanguard Tech, explosions have occurred on four more ships visiting Russian ports. Operators then began checking tanker hulls for mines using divers and underwater drones.

Other incidents include damage to the tankers Seacharm, Grace Ferrum, Seajewel and Koala, some of which have been linked to the Russian shadow fleet.

For example, Seajewel, as Ukrayinska Pravda wrote , supplied Russian oil to Europe bypassing sanctions.

There was also an explosion on board Koala earlier. The ship is connected with Latvian citizen Alexey Khalyavin, wrote Vorstka. “Layout” also told how the “ shadow fleet ” of Russia works.
